Seeking Community Partnerships
What makes Salvus Center unique is the organization’s desire to partner extensively with the faith community and the whole of Sumner County. The Center seeks to partner with the faith community and civic organizations to provide support for other non-medical needs. The medical community will be an excellent source of volunteer professionals to maintain the clinic’s evening and weekend hours and to provide specialist care and diagnostic services.

Eddie Smith, Salvus Center board member and CEO of Portland s Tennessee Christian Medical Center, encourages healthcare professionals to partner with Salvus Center. Smith s career spans more than 30 years in healthcare administration, and he has seen that physicians are increasingly concerned about the fate of their uninsured patients. A lot of physicians are not in a position to provide free care, but they want to help this is an excellent way to bridge that gap, he says.

Board member William Morris, a retired United Methodist Bishop with 45 years of ministry experience, speaks to the importance of assistance from the faith community. According to Morris, Salvus Center allows us to respond to the critical need of those who so often have to choose between food and healthcare. I think God expects people to have the necessities, and certainly healthcare is one of those necessities. I think we have no choice but to participate.
